.guess who came to visit.

hello, dear friends!

i’m sorry my Easter post was so cryptic…just a picture without a word!  somehow i managed to mess with the muscles in my back and i was literally incapacitated for several days with back spasms.  never again will i mock my husband for the leg cramps he gets in the middle of the night, because…WOW!  it was intense!

i do hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday…that you were with family and friends…and that much chocolate was to be found!  with the help of large doses of Motrin, i was able to enjoy 2 egg hunts, some ATVing (spectating, of course), and the sweet sincerity of my kiddos as they put the real meaning of Easter into their own words.  it doesn’t get better than that.  🙂

love,

L

.going going…..

…gone!  nearly three months of 2009 are gone already.  it hardly seems possible!  what’s more, sessions are currently booked though the end of April already.  now that the time has changed, the grasses are green, and the weather is…well, it’s supposed to warm up a bit…everyone is looking to do their sessions in the beauty that is California.  the fields, the vineyards and the beaches.  summer tends to be one of the busiest times for portrait sessions, so if you’re hoping to book a session, shoot me an email to reserve a date!

.my heart. lisa maksoudian-california children’s photographer

hello my little blog readers!  i haven’t meant to neglect you all…i’ve just returned from a whirlwind week in Las Vegas!  the WPPI convention was great, as usual, and i had a chance to meet so many amazing photographers.  yes, it was a blast!  that said, i’m so glad to be home, to squeeze my kiddos…and to breathe fresh ocean air. (second hand smoke is truly brutal!)

this year, the trip to Vegas was not merely to attend international photographer’s convention.  in fact, i might have skipped the frenzy, but i had the chance to complete a training program for an organization that i’m so honored to be a part of.

in the past few years i’ve been able to contribute to some incredible non-profit groups, including the EOC Homeless Shelter and Jack’s Helping Hand.  these companies, and the people who run them, are modern day heroes.  the work is non-glamorous, but the results of their sacrifices are unmeasurable.  they truly impact the lives of those they serve.

and while i’m so delighted to continue to donate to these organizations, i’m very honored to announce that i am now part of a charity organization called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.

“Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS) is non-profit organization committed to assisting parents and families going through the difficult time when they experience an early infant loss.  the photographers are entirely volunteer and offer sensitive photography services to allow families to remember their little angels.  for more information, you can visit the NILMDTS website.”

i first heard of this group several years ago and thought it unique.  but i couldn’t go there.  the photographers for this group offer ‘infant bereavement photography’….and it sounded scary.  then my life took a number of twists and turns that i would never choose.  i’m not sure if could have faced it all if i didn’t believe that all things work together for good.  and now, a year later, the choice to join NILMDTS as a volunteer photographer is truly a privilege.

this might be a surprising post to some of you, as i showcase so many amazing, healthy newborns and babes.  but i believe that the work is incredibly important…and you never know who you’ll meet or the needs you’ll encounter in a lifetime.  again, for more information, please contact me or visit the NILMDTS website.

thank you for all of your support!

sweet dreams,

L

oooops!!!!

i’m SOOO sorry everyone!  in switching to a new email program this afternoon there was an unfortunate glitch…..the entire world it seems received ‘auto reply’ messages from me.  i’m so sorry to clutter everyone’s inbox!  if i could just change the ‘auto-reply’ to a Happy New Year note i would in a heartbeat.   and i’d send a Happy New Year note….but your inboxes are probably already full.  ugh!

thank you so much for your understanding!

🙂

.in the spirit of christmas. lisa maksoudian – modern kids portraits

can you believe it?  it’s christmas time already!  i’ve been thinking for a while about how to give this christmas…to make this year truly meaningful.   and two ideas came to mind…i’m so excited to share them:

first, i need your eyes and ears to help me out!  i want to give the gift of memories to a child/family in need.  if you know of a family with young children who have a special circumstances, please email their information and their story to lisa@lisamaksoudian.com.  nominations should be made by monday, december 22nd so that the family/child chosen can open their gift on christmas day.

secondly, i’m happy to offer a special holiday sale for gift certificates!   pictures really make the perfect, most timeless gift and what a better way to give than to get a nice little bonus!

purchase a ‘session’ as a gift, and i’ll add a $75 print credit to the certificate.  this offer is good through friday, december 12th 2008.

merry wishes everyone!

Lisa
